I may have spent New Year’s at home, but for a good reason, which I had almost forgotten. Remember the year 2011? Yea, so long ago –by the end of that year, I felt I had taken a couple more steps into the world of journalism. With that, aspects in print, television, even multimedia became striking –became more interesting. So, my journalist ‘to-do’ list has grown.
Luckily Brian Stelter posted a reminder on Facebook:
“Page One” is premiering on the History Channel starting…now!
–I almost missed it…almost. Thanks to Verizon, I was not only able to watch it, but I also set it to record on my DVR.
Yes, I watched it twice (thank you, DVR). What better publication than The New York Times, to showcase its reality and mechanics of its company, in an industry many believe to be “dying?”
From internal scandals to publishing stories exposing corruption within other companies in the newspaper business, The NYTimes in this documentary becomes a petri dish, with the practicalities of life as NYT employees, magnified.
If you are yet to see this documentary, please do. Whether you’re an aspiring journalist, media buff or just a New York Times reader, this film is definitely worth it.
